Helping students discover the colleges where they truly belong

Thoughtful College Guidance Built on Experience and Care

Qualifications

My work in college counseling is built on years of experience in education, community engagement, and ongoing professional learning. I hold a B.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and an M.Ed. in Secondary School Administration from the University at Buffalo. Before becoming a college counselor, I taught English in middle schools for seven years.

My involvement in college advising began in 2008, when I volunteered with the Oregon ASPIRE Program at Sisters High School. After moving to Bend in 2014, I continued supporting students through the Summit High School Future Center and later served as its director. I have also worked with the Future Center at Bend Senior High School and trained parent volunteers who assist students with college planning.

I am an active member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA; Professional Member), the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA), and the International Association for College Admission Counseling (InternationalACAC). I serve on HECA’s College Knowledge Committee, where I help organize university webinars and information sessions for the college consulting community. To stay current with admissions trends, I regularly attend professional meetings and national conferences and have visited more than 180 college campuses over the past five years.

My Counseling Philosophy

I believe the college search should begin with understanding the student. Each student has unique interests, strengths, and personal qualities that deserve thoughtful attention. My role is to listen carefully, ask the right questions, and help students see their own potential more clearly.

Rather than focusing only on rankings or prestige, I guide students toward colleges where they will thrive academically and personally. A well-designed college list and authentic student voice are the foundation of a successful application. The process should not only lead to college admission but also help students grow in confidence and clarity about their future.

Why Families Choose LCC

Families often tell me they appreciate the care and attention I bring to every student. My work is meticulous and highly personalized. I take the time to develop an insightful understanding of each student’s strengths and help them present those qualities authentically in their applications. I also serve as a strong advocate for my students throughout the process.

LCC offers a high-touch counseling experience. I work closely with students and families at every stage, from exploring interests and building thoughtful college lists to refining essays and navigating final decisions. Families invest in this process because careful guidance can make a meaningful difference, and they know their student’s journey will receive the attention it deserves.
